Arts"Renew You" is an exciting project utilising and exploring the benefits of art, music, exercise, dance and drama to enhance the lives of older people. Participating in creative arts can help to improve an older person's emotional or physical life, rediscover lost talents or find new ones, and develop skills and confidence.The concept of "Renew You" was initiated by day centre service users who requested physical activities to enhance movement and mobility with an element of fun! Artists, dance, drama, music and exercise instructors work with older people in day centres to develop new learning techniques as well as raising positive recognition of older people's talent, and promoting social inclusion. Participating in "Renew You" encourages and expands social and creative expression. Each instructor respect the person's personal choices and preference, encouraging their strengths and developing their talents. Age Concern works in partnership with external organisations to ensure that our service users have the opportunity to access cultural excursions. |
