AGE CONCERN BIRMINGHAM VACANCIES

Cook
9 hours per week - Thursday and Friday
(Additional hours inlcuding holiday cover required on an occasional basis]
£3,365 per annum [pro rata £13,086]

This role involves the preparation, presentation and service of meals within a Lunch Club and Day Centre for older people whilst maintaining a well organised, safe and smooth running kitchen.
A current Food Hygiene certificate is essential. You will also be qualified to NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Catering or at least working towards it.

Outreach Coordinator Planning (Death and Dying Project)

Outreach Coordinator Planning (Death and Dying Project)
37.5 hours per week, hours to be flexible to meet the needs of the service.
SALARY:£21,000 per annum
This is an initial fixed term post for 9 months. 


Age Concern Birmingham is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic project coordinator to deliver a 9 month pilot project to prepare people for old age, dying and death through planned discussions. The aim of the pilot is to deliver sessions in preparation for old age and dying to help prepare people for choices in later life and after death, and by doing this in a comfortable setting.  People who make arrangements to address the issues of dying and death can then feel satisfaction knowing they have done what they need to do for themselves and to assist their loved ones at a time of illness or death.
The successful candidate will manage a small team with the target to deliver 40, 1.5-2 hours sessions reaching 480 people.  Sessions will be delivered using a range of planned methods and models assessing outcomes for delivering a sustainable long term project. The project will be evaluated externally. The successful candidate will need to be confident in talking to people about death and dying and previous experience of doing this would be welcome.

An opportunity has become available within Age Concern Birmingham for a Firstcall telephone/face to face advisor.

Firstcall is a much needed community service offering handyperson services, accredited tradespeople, insurances, holidays and a growing range of quality products to meet the needs of older people.

The role is based in our Boldmere Office and will assist the Commercial Manager in all aspects of Age Concern Trading, including promoting and selling associated trading products to personal callers and over the telephone.

Wellbeing Assistant
Based at Wellington Court Wellbeing Day Centre, Harborne
19.5 hours per week, to be worked 9am to 4pm, Monday to Wednesday
Salary:- £6,664 per annum (pro rata £11,961)

To join the friendly team in offering support and assistance within this busy wellbeing day centre, promoting independence and facilitating social interaction and running quality activities for older people. Clients will be older frail adults who may have mental health problems.

Relevant skills and experience are required.

Legal Advisor
A Legal Advisor is required to work on a freelance and sessional basis to join our established team.  It is imperative that Advisors have up to date and current expertise in the preparation of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

Services are to be delivered to clients from across the City, inclusing occasional home visits to clients who are unable to travel to our offices in Boldmere.  Pricing for services is competitive to enable a service to be provided to those who otherwise may not be able to afford them.  Fees received by our Advisors are on a shared basis with Age Concern Birmingham.  Office space is provided together with a PC and agreed protocols for use.  Appointments are made by ACB staff in consultation with Advisor availability time. 

A relevant qualificatio and suitable, current experience is essential as is an empathy and understanding of the needs of older and vulnerable people, together with an ability to explain legal terminology in simple terms.

Handyperson Service

Age Concern Birmingham offers a Handyperson service across Birmingham.
We are looking for experienced handypersons who would like to work in partnership with us on a flexible subcontracting basis to meet the demands of the service.
You must have up to date public liability insurance, be able to provide references to show the quality of your work and ideally have an up to date DBS check, although we can apply for this on your behalf.
We offer good rates of pay.
