Age Concern Birmingham has a wide range of job opportunities offering the satisfaction of helping to improve the quality of life for older people in Birmingham. We currently have the following vacancies:

Administration Manager
37.5 hours per week - five days per week
Salary: £24,000
Location: Boldmere Road, Sutton Coldfield

To provide an efficient, effective, high quality and comprehensive administrative facility to the organisation ensuring that managed staff and volunteers meet the same high standards.
Currently this post also holds within it reception and telephone duties carried out with others but from 2016, due to upcoming changes of personnel, this aspect of the role will change and develop into more PA duties at Senior Management level, whilst still retaining the main duties and responsibilities.

Human Resources Administrator [based in Boldmere, Sutton Coldfield]
Fixed Term Contract to end March 2016 with the possibility of an extension
25 hours per week – five days per week
Salary £12,500 pro rata [per annum £17,500]

• Do you have some basic experience in HR and wish to develop your skills further by taking on some responsibility for a small but very busy HR department serving 60+ staff?
• Can you multitask effectively, remaining well organized?
• Do you have excellent administration skills?
• Do you have experience of working with databases?

What are we asking for?
• A commitment to the work of Age Concern Birmingham and, in particular, to providing a first class Human Resources service.
• Some previous experience of working in HR in some capacity.  If you are currently working towards a relevant qualification, this will be an advantage.
• Ability to support production of concise and professional reports by accurate update of databases and records.
• Good communication skills, both in writing and in person with confident IT ability.
• Organised, able to prioritise and able to use own initiative

Fristcall Advisor
25 hours, Monday to Friday 
Salary: £11,036 pro rata [£15,450 per annum]

Location: Boldmere Road, Sutton Coldfield

An opportunity has become available within Age Concern Birmingham for a Firstcall telephone/face to face advisor.

Firstcall is a much needed community service offering handyperson services, accredited tradespeople, insurances, holidays and a growing range of quality products to meet the needs of older people.

The role is based in our Boldmere Office and will assist the Commercial Manager in all aspects of Age Concern Trading, including promoting and selling associated trading products to personal callers and over the telephone.

Legal Advisor
A Legal Advisor is required to work on a freelance and sessional basis to join our established team.  It is imperative that Advisors have up to date and current expertise in the preparation of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

Services are to be delivered to clients from across the City, inclusing occasional home visits to clients who are unable to travel to our offices in Boldmere.  Pricing for services is competitive to enable a service to be provided to those who otherwise may not be able to afford them.  Fees received by our Advisors are on a shared basis with Age Concern Birmingham.  Office space is provided together with a PC and agreed protocols for use.  Appointments are made by ACB staff in consultation with Advisor availability time. 

A relevant qualificatio and suitable, current experience is essential as is an empathy and understanding of the needs of older and vulnerable people, together with an ability to explain legal terminology in simple terms.

Based:  All areas in Birmingham. We are recruiting particularly for Four Oaks, Edgbaston, Streetly, Hockley, Lozells and Newtown areas.

Handyperson Service

Age Concern Birmingham offers a Handyperson service across Birmingham.
We are looking for experienced handypersons who would like to work in partnership with us on a flexible subcontracting basis to meet the demands of the service.
You must have up to date public liability insurance, be able to provide references to show the quality of your work and ideally have an up to date DBS check, although we can apply for this on your behalf.
We offer good rates of pay.
