Person Centred ServicesWhat are direct payments?
A direct payment is a cash payment given to you by your local authority following an assessment to help purchase the care and support you need.
How can I get a direct payment?
You will need to contact your local Social Services department who will arrange to come out and visit you. They will complete an assessment form called a “Community Care Assessment” with you.
What can I spend my direct payment on?
The money is for you to arrange services that will meet your assessed needs. This can include employing people to support you with your care needs, to support you to live at home and to enable you to access community activities.
